Scholarship Criteria:

Fausto and Trinidad Abinosa ScholarshipCandidates for the Fausto and Trinidad Abinosa
Scholarship should be re-entering women to Utah State University and be serious and responsible students showing a desire to get a good education. They should have a 2.0 minimum grade point average to be considered. Preference will be shown for descendants of Fausto and Trinidad Abinosa.

Neil L. and Cathy Anderson Scholarship
The Neil L. and Cathy Anderson Endowed Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate reentry women students. Awards may also be given to students for emergency student-related needs, as determined by the director of the Center for Women and Gender Scholarship Committee.

Wayne and Ione Spencer Bennion FundThe Wayne and Ione Spencer Bennion Endowed Scholarship, which was the first endowment established at the Women's Center in 1979, assists undergraduate reentry women (especially single parent women) who desire to attend Utah State University.

T.Y. and Nan C. Booth Women's Center EndowmentIncome from the T.Y. and Nan C. Booth Women's Center Endowment shall provide support for urgent-need assistance to clients of the Center for Women and Gender.

Box Family Opportunity AwardThe Box Family Opportunity Award is given to undergraduate or graduate students. Preference is given to those who are (or who have been) in an abusive environment, who have a desire to break the cycle of violence, or who have been volunteers at CAPSA (or a similar organization). Awards will be based on financial need, stated educational goals and potential of the applicant. While past GPA should be considered, it should not be the primary deciding factor. Recipients should maintain a 2.5 GPA.

William F. and Phyllis M. Campbell ScholarshipCandidates for the William F. and Phyllis M. Campbell Endowed Scholarship must be undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior reentry single parents with a declared major. Students must have a 3.0 minimum GPA, must demonstrate academic achievement, and must be enrolled for at least 6 credits.

Leah Dunford Parkinson Christensen Endowed ScholarshipCandidates for the Leah Dunford Parkinson Christensen Endowed Scholarship must be returning women or men students with at least a three year or more gap in their education and must be enrolled at Utah State University. Awards will be based on financial need, personal motivation to succeed in school and clearly stated educational goals.

Carol Wennergren Clay EndowmentThe Carol Wennergren Clay Endowed Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry women, undergraduate senior women, or graduate reentry women who need financial assistance.

Lucile Ballif Croft ScholarshipFirst consideration for the Lucile Ballif Croft Scholarship is given to re-entry single parent women with children and then second consideration given to re-entry men or re-entry women students. Re-entry refers to those students who have had a gap in their education as defined by the USU Women's Center. Recipients may be either undergraduate or graduate re-entry students at Utah State University who are residents of Utah. Awards will be based on financial need, stated educational goals and evaluation of the benefits to be gained by the applicants.

Theodore W. Daniel ScholarshipConsideration for the Theodore W. Daniel Scholarship in the USU Center for Women and Gender is given to black women from the continent of Africa who are undergraduates or graduates, and who have either reentry or traditional status.

Dansie ScholarshipThe Dansie Endowed Scholarship was established by Jane and Walter Dansie, Jr. to encourage reentry women to complete their education, even when their personal financial resources are not sufficient.

Ryan and Sonia Dupont Endowed ScholarshipThe Dupont Endowed Scholarship was established by professors R. Ryan Dupont and Sonia Manuel-Dupont for A. Academic excellence (3.5 and above) and B. A declared major in Engineering. First choice is an engineering major who meets A and B and is a woman in Environmental Engineering. Second choice is an engineering major who meets A and B and is a woman in Civil Engineering. Third choice is an engineering major who meets A and B and is a minority male in Environmental Engineering. Fourth choice is an engineering major who meets A and B and is a minority male in Civil Engineering.

The Gloria Thurston Earl and Don C. Earl ScholarshipThe Gloria Thurston Earl and Don C. Earl Endowed Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry women.

Flynn Endowed ScholarshipThe Flynn Endowed Scholarship was established by Mary Flynn Palley in memory of her parents, aunts, and uncles. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry female students. Consideration is given to married families, single-parent families, and/or first generation reentry female students.

Joan Forsgren White ScholarshipThe Joan Forsgren White Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate reentry women or men who have a grade point average of at least 3.0 and are enrolled for at least 6 credit hours at USU. Financial need, stated educational goals and demonstrated academic achievement will be considered.

Susan Grey Blue Sky ScholarshipThe Blue Sky Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Susan Grey and is awarded to undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate women majoring or minoring in the visual arts, and having an emphasis in painting, ceramics, photography, or two-dimensional art. Students must be enrolled for at least 6 credits and must demonstrate academic achievement.

Lynda F. and David L. Jeppesen ScholarshipThe Lynda F. and David L. Jeppesen Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate reentry women. It may be given for emergency student-related needs.

Isabel Katana ScholarshipThe Isabel Katana Scholarship was established to provide opportunities for personal development and empowerment to women reentry students. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate reentry women. Consideration is given to applicants majoring in fields related to nursing, medicine, health care, or psychology.

Jack and Sally Keller Endowed ScholarshipThe Jack and Sally Keller Endowed Scholarship is awarded to reentry women students with financial need, especially single women who are heads of their households and who have minor dependents.

Vera Carter Lewis ScholarshipDavid Rich Lewis and Kim Corbin-Lewis hereby establish this scholarship endowment fund to assist future generations of students in the Center for Women and Gender at Utah State University. This endowment scholarship is to honor Dr. Lewis’ grandmother, Vera Carter Lewis. Student recipients of the Vera Carter Lewis Scholarship should demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Debra Loveless Meier ScholarshipThe Debra Loveless Meier Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Debra Loveless Meier, daughter of Geniel and Austin Loveless. Consideration is given to undergraduate or graduate reentry women majoring in fields related to education.

Helen Melcomian ScholarshipThe Helen Melcomian Scholarship was established by Mel and Elaine Melcomian to honor Mr. Melcomian's mother. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry students.

Stephanie Osborne Endowed ScholarshipThe Stephanie Osborne Scholarship was established in her memory by her parents and her sister. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate traditional senior women who are interested in the helping professions and involved in community social issues and travel abroad. Consideration is given to single women who are U.S. citizens and who have no children.

Marilyn Painter Scholarship EndowmentThe Marilyn Painter Scholarship was established by Loye Painter in memory of her sister, Marilyn Painter, to assist undergraduate reentry women students and senior women students.

Palley/Johnson EndowmentThe Palley/Johnson Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry students. Consideration is given to young married families and/or single parent families, first-generation reentry students, and those whose family members are not college graduates.

J.C. Penney Co. at Cache Valley Mall Endowed ScholarshipThe J. C. Penney Company, Inc. Cache Valley Mall Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate female reentry students. Consideration is given to those majoring or minoring in fields related to business, management, fashion merchandising or retail sales.

Promote Educational Opportunities (PEO) ScholarshipThe Promote Educational Opportunities (PEO) Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate reentry women who have declared a major or stated a specific focus.

Blanche Browning Rich ScholarshipThe Blanche Browning Rich Scholarship was established by David Rich Lewis and Kim Corbin-Lewis in honor of David's grandmother, Blanche Browning Rich, to assist reentry students and/or women students having demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Ferdinand F. and Claire C. Sawyer Endowed ScholarshipThe Ferdinand F. and Claire C. Sawyer Scholarship is awarded to reentry undergraduate or graduate women and men.

Sigler "You Can Do It!" Endowed ScholarshipRecipients of the Sigler "You Can Do It" Endowed Scholarship can be either undergraduate or graduate female or male "reentry" students enrolled at Utah State University. Awards will be based on financial need, stated educational goals and evaluation of the benefits to be gained by the applicant.

St. John's Episcopal Church Endowed ScholarshipThe St. John's Episcopal Church Endowed Scholarship is awarded to reentry, senior, and graduate women.

Evan and Jean Stevenson ScholarshipThe Evan and Jean Stevenson Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate reentry students who are single mothers. Awards may also be given for emergency student-related needs.

Alison Comish Thorne ScholarshipThe Alison Comish Thorne Expendable Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate juniors or seniors who have successfully completed the Introduction to Women and Gender Studies course (WGS 1010) and are declared Women and Gender Studies students working toward a certificate or minor in the program. Recipients shall have a 3.0 or higher cumulative USU GPA.

Rachael Ann Wadsworth Endowed ScholarshipThe Rachel Ann Farnes Maughan Wadsworth Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate reentry women students at Utah State University. Recipients shall have attended USU at least one year and demonstrated high scholarship. Awards will be based on clearly stated educational goals, financial need and evaluation of the benefits to be gained by the students. Recipients will be selected by the Financial Assistance Committee of the USU Center for Women and Gender. Reentry students are defined as those who have had gaps in their educations.

William C. Walther ScholarshipThe William C. Walther Scholarship was established by Edwarda Chase in honor of her husband, William C. Walther. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate reentry students or students who require assistance to complete their degrees. To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 3.5 minimum GPA and must be natural-born American citizens. Students may receive a Walther scholarship award only once.
